Pure Strings is a professional iOS application designed to simulate string instruments with a high degree of expressiveness. The app transforms an iPhone or iPad into a versatile string instrument platform, offering nine expertly sampled articulations and textures that encompass a broad spectrum of string ensemble sounds. Central to its interface is the Morphpad, a touch-sensitive control that facilitates seamless blending and sound sculpting. Users can slide their finger across the Morphpad to explore and morph between various string tones and effects.

The application combines high-quality sound production, akin to desktop virtual instruments, with intuitive tactile controls optimized for mobile devices. It responds fluidly to user input, allowing for dynamic and responsive performance. By swiping across the Morphpad, musicians can blend, layer, and manipulate string sounds effortlessly. The app caters to both traditional and modern sonic exploration, providing a diverse selection of articulations including sustain, pizzicato, staccato, harmonics, trills, tremolo, as well as alternative sounds like string machines, synth textures, and vintage tape emulations.

Pure Strings supports full dynamic expression, accessible not only through keyboard velocity but also via a dedicated Dynamics Strip adjacent to the Morphpad, as well as modulation wheels and automation controls. An integrated arpeggiator further enhances performance capabilities by transforming short articulations into synchronized arpeggios that follow the host's tempo, adding rhythmic complexity and musical interest.

Sound customization options include adjustable attack and release parameters, as well as a Con Sordino button that softens the tone to produce a mellow, emotion-rich atmosphere reminiscent of mute techniques employed by string players. Additional sound design tools include a versatile equalizer, high-quality reverb, and a delay effect synchronized to the host tempo. These effects interact seamlessly with the Morphpad but can also be utilized as master effects when the control is disabled for more flexible sound shaping.

Pure Strings operates either as a standalone application or as an AUv3 plug-in within compatible iOS digital audio workstations such as Logic Pro, GarageBand, or Cubasis. Connectivity options include USB, standard MIDI, network MIDI, and Bluetooth MIDI—facilitating integration into diverse production environments.
